I would like to provide the following feedback from my experience as a professional working in a collaborative way to support and provide opportunities for engagement within the CAMHS service.
Sporting Chance enabled me to carefully and sensitively meet with the young person with a significant trauma history, difficulty with trusting professionals due to a number of significant professionals changing within their lives along with inconsistent sustainment of the professional relationships. Due to these experiences it has made it difficult to engage with professionals.
J and the other mentors built relationships worked to build on the relationship which enabled different key mentors to support their time with Sporting Chance sustaining engagement and relationships as this can often contribute to lack of engagement as trauma and attachment challenges add to the complexity of building trusting relationships.
I feel that Sporting Chance through their positive and trusting relationship with the young person gave me the opportunity to support and advocate for the young person in their engagement and assessment with CAMHS. J and the other Mentors were approachable, positive, professional and created a trusting relationship with the young person, parents and other professionals in the network.
Their positive relationship with the young person supported my engagement and assessment with the young person. Enabled them to build further positive and trusting relationships by adapting to a few different mentors which is credit to the young person and the mentors approaches and positive encouragement and understanding of them and their needs, whilst keeping boundaries and consistent in approach.
Thank you for your support and professional approach, commitment and dedication as individual and as a team to really advocate and support a positive experience and relationship with them and also myself as a professional. Really amazing to have been able to be part of the journey and supporting my role with the young person, family and network.
